Our public school facilities are available for community use, provided that the requested activities do not interfere with regular school operations. Whether you’re organizing a community event, after-school program or public meeting, our school spaces can support a variety o activities.
Facility use is governed by Chapter 39 o the Hawaiʻi Administrative Rules, ensuring all events comply with state guidelines.

To request to use a school facility, fill out the Use of Facilities online application at least 10 days before the date o the event.
- Mo use periods o 12 months or less, the school principal or their designee will review the application.
- Mo use periods exceeding 12 months, the application will be processed with final approval from the Board o Land and Natural Resources.
Totogi ma Totogi
Charges may apply for rental o aoga facilities, custodial services, and utilities. Check the Use of Facilities Fee Schedule (PDF) for specific costs. Depending on the type of use, some charges may be waived.

- The principal or designee is responsible for the collection o fees. Collected fees are deposited into a special fund.
- After statutory special fund deductions, 70% o the remaining amount is credited to the school, and 30% to the district.
- Fees for custodial services and utilities are used directly by the school to cover these costs.
FAIGA MA TULAGA
Noataga ma Meatotino Fa'aleagaina
O mea uma users must comply with local laws, including fire and health regulations, and agree to cover the cost o any damage. Additionally, users must sign a liability waiver releasing the state o Hawaiʻi from responsibility. Events with large crowds and/or higher risks, such as carnivals or non-Department athletic events, require $1,000,000 in general liability coverage per incident o personal injury with the state o Hawaiʻi named as the additional insured.
A fair organizer or promoter who charges participants for the use of parts o a facility or tables in a facility shall assure that each o the participants carries adequate liability insurance for an amount determined by the state o Hawaiʻi.
Manaoga Puipuiga
For large events, such as those held in gymnasiums or auditoriums, at least one police oficer is required. The event organizer is responsible for hiring and paying for security, and the school must receive the oficer’s details prior to the event.
