Hawaiʻi Book Award Programs

Gosling Awards (Grades K-3): The Gosling Award is a Hawaiʻi children’s choice book award for students in grades K–3. Each year, a committee of librarians selects 12 outstanding picture books to be nominated for the award. Children are encouraged to read or listen to the nominated books and vote for their favorite in the spring.

Faailoga Nene (Vaega 4-6): The Nene Award promotes reading and discussion of literature. Students in grades 4 to 6 are encouraged to read Nene Nominees, discuss them with other students and classes, then vote for their favorite title.

Anuenue Book Award: The Ānuenue Hawaiʻi Keiki Book Award advocates for books created for and about our Hawaiʻi keiki so that they can see themselves in literature and imagine their own creative futures.
