The Department is committed to providing leadership y guidance to ensure that all schools offer a challenging education for gifted and talented students. These students excel in areas such as intellect, creativity, artistry, leadership y specific academic subjects.

De acuerdo con Política 105-5 de la Junta de Educación (PDF), the goals for supporting gifted and talented students include:

  1. Establecer estándares curriculares elevados that are aligned with the intellectual y social needs of gifted learners.
  2. Garantizar que todas las escuelas provide learning opportunities that nurture students with exceptional talents y abilities.
  3. Ofreciendo instrucción especializada y services that challenge y engage gifted students at levels that match their capabilities.
  4. Proporcionar desarrollo profesional continuo y training for teachers to better support these students.
  5. Fomentar la participación activa de los padres Construir una comunidad de aprendizaje solidaria.
  6. Establecer un sistema estatal for identifying gifted students, notifying parents, y evaluating program effectiveness.

Center for Talented Youth (CTY)

Al Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, Gifted & Talented students discover just how much they can shine with advanced academic summer programs, online courses, awards y more. 

Jóvenes académicos de Davidson

El Jóvenes académicos de Davidson program provides free services designed to nurture the intellectual, social, emotional, y academic development of profoundly intelligent young people between the ages of 5 y 18 (students must be between the ages of 5 y 16 when applying). There are rolling application deadlines throughout the year. 

Jóvenes Mensanos

Miembros de Mensa americana range in age from 2 to 102. They include engineers, homemakers, teachers, actors, athletes, students y CEOs, y they share one trait—high intelligence. To qualify for Mensa, they scored in the top 2% of the general population on an accepted standardized intelligence test. Mensa has full-time staff who support Jóvenes Mensanos y their families.
