State Distance Learning Program

State Distance Learning Program (SDLP) is a public, online program for students in grades 9 through 12 and is part of the Hawai‘i Department of Education’s Office of Curriculum and Instructional Design. Designed for students who thrive in flexible, independent learning environments, SDLP offers a curriculum aligned with state standards and delivered by certified teachers. Students attend virtual classes, have access to 24/7 tutoring—including innovative AI tools—and engage in interactive digital modules that make learning both personalized and engaging.

The State Distance Learning Program (SDLP) works in close partnership with each student’s home-based school to ensure that academic records, credits, and graduation requirements are fully aligned. While students take their classes online through SDLP, they remain officially enrolled at their local high school, preserving their connection to their home school community. Families can expect consistent communication, access to online courses, and real-time updates on student progress. SDLP is an excellent choice for those seeking a flexible, innovative learning path that stays firmly rooted in Hawai‘i’s public education system.
