Hawai‘i public schools had a proud showing at this years’ National Career Academy Coalition (NCAC) conference held earlier this month in Tucson, Arizona.

NCAC recognizes college and career academies that show exemplary performance in the National Standard of Practice (NSOP) through a review and accreditation process. Academies can earn a rating of: model with distinction, model, certified or in progress.

To reach the model with distinction level – the highest level of recognition – a school’s career academy must meet or exceed proficiency in all 10 NSOP criterias. At this year’s conference, 10 academies across three HIDOE high schools earned model recognition and two academies at a fourth high school were recognized as model academies with distinction.
