The school bus is an extension of the school itself. All students riding HIDOE school buses shall abide by the following rules for their own safety and the safety of others. Riding the school bus is a privilege, not a right.

Hawaii Administrative Rule (HAR) 8-28 provides guidance to provide safe transportation for students by setting safety regulations relating to passenger conduct, passenger safety instructions, disciplinary procedures, and school bus driver’s responsibility and authority.

バスのルール

指定されたスクールバス停留所および乗車中、生徒は次のことを行うものとします。

• Not bring other children who will not be passengers on the bus or animals to the bus stop.
• バスがスケジュールどおりに到着するよう、指定されたスクールバス停に時間どおりに到着してください。
• バスを待つ間は道路から離れ、安全な行動をとってください。
• バス停では近隣住民の迷惑になるような大声で話さないでください。
• バス停の公共または私有財産にゴミを捨てたり汚したりしないでください。
• バス停で待っている間は私有地に侵入しないでください。
• バスに乗車する前に、整然と一列に並んでバスが完全に停止するまで待ってください。
• 歩道がない場合は、バス停に行くには交通に面した道路の側を歩いてください。
• 乗客に怪我を負わせる可能性のある物品や、座席の下に安全に保管できない物品をバスに持ち込まないでください。
• バスに乗るときは手すりを使い、足元に注意してください。

バスを降りて道路を横断するときは、生徒は以下の手順を守らなければなりません。

• 校長から事前に適切な許可が与えられていない限り、バスは通常のバス停でのみ降車してください。
• バスを降りる際は手すりを使い、足元に注意してください。
• バス停で道路を横断する場合、生徒はバスの 12 フィート前を歩き、スクールバスの上部にある交互に点灯する赤色のランプが点滅しているかどうかを確認します。ランプが点滅している場合は、運転手を見て、運転手が横断の合図を出すまで待ちます。赤色のランプが点滅していない場合は、生徒は道路を横断せず、運転手に赤色の警告ランプが作動していないことを伝え、道路を横断する際に運転手に支援を求めます。

学生は指定された時間と場所に指定されたバスに乗るものとします。

バスの安全

We strongly recommend that a responsible adult be present at the bus stop in the morning and in the afternoon for children 10 and under. Bus drivers are not responsible to match each child with a specific adult at the bus stops. 

It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure a responsible adult is at the bus stop or make alternative arrangements for their child if they are unable to walk alone to and from the bus stop.

バスに乗る

• バスの到着予定時刻の少なくとも 5 分前にはバス停に到着してください。
• バスが近づいてきたら、縁石から少なくとも 6 フィート離れて立ちます。
• バスの前で道路を横断する必要がある場合は、必ず横断歩道を使用してください。  
• バスを降りる際は、ゆるい服や紐のついた服、ストラップのついたランドセルなどが手すりやドアに引っかからないようにご注意ください。
• Never walk behind the bus.
• バスを降りた後は、バスの側面から少なくとも 10 フィート離れて歩いてください。
• バスの近くで何かを落とした場合は、バスの運転手に伝えてください。運転手があなたを見ることができない可能性があるため、絶対に拾おうとしないでください。
• バスに乗っている生徒は、運転手や他の乗客に対して礼儀正しく接してください。静かに話し、運転手の指示に従ってください。バスの中で音楽を聴いたりビデオを見たりするときは、必ずヘッドホンを使用してください。 
• 自宅の住所、親/保護者の電話番号、信頼できる大人の別の電話番号、緊急時に 911 を利用する方法を把握しておいてください。

バス停まで歩く

• バス停までの徒歩ルートを計画します。横断歩道が最も少なく、最短距離のルートを選択し、横断歩道が指定されている交差点を使用します。ルートをテストします。公園、空き地、野原など、周囲に人があまりいない場所は避けます。
• 道路を渡る前に必ず左、右、そしてもう一度左を見て、安全に道路を渡れるように十分な時間を取ってください。
• 見知らぬ人に話しかけたり、見知らぬ人から車に乗せてもらったり、贈り物を受け取ったりしないでください。

規律

バス内で不適切な行動をとった生徒は乗車を拒否され、以下の規定に従って懲戒処分を受けることがあります。 第19章 of Hawaiʻi Administrative Rules. 

When the school receives a School Bus Incident Report, the principal will conduct an investigation of the incident and notify the parents and/or guardians of the outcome. If the child is precluded from riding the school bus as a result of the principal’s disciplinary action, a refund will not be issued for the unused portion of the bus pass. 

Video monitoring and GPS are active on all school bus vehicles to assist with incident report tracking and documentation.
