The Department is renewing its commitment to hiring highly qualified licensed teachers in every classroom. This effort aligns with Priority II of the Department’s Strategic Plan: High Quality Educator Workforce in All Mga paaralan.

In order to teach in Hawaiʻi’s public schools, you will need to hold a Hawaiʻi teaching license or permit. In some states, a license is known as your teaching credential or teacher certification. To obtain your no-cost Hawaiʻi teaching license or permit, you must complete the requirements laid out by the state’s Hawaii'i Teacher Standards Board.

Paraeducator (Mga Katulong sa Edukasyon)

Gumagana ang isang paraeducator sa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ng mga guro o iba pang propesyonal na practitioner. Ang posisyon ay likas na pagtuturo at nagbibigay ng iba pang direktang serbisyo sa mga bata at kabataan at kanilang mga pamilya, kabilang ang:

Mga minimum na kinakailangan para sa mga paraeducator:

1. Apatnapu't walong semestre na kredito ng mga kurso sa antas ng baccalaureate mula sa isang rehiyonal na kinikilalang institusyon ng mas mataas na edukasyon na kinikilala ng Kagawaran. Ang 48 na mga kredito ay maaaring mula sa iba't ibang programa o akademikong paksa. Bilang karagdagan, anim sa 48 na kredito ay dapat para sa mga kurso sa matematika at Ingles sa antas ng baccalaureate. 
2. O, isang associate in arts (AA) o science (AS) degree mula sa isang regionally accredited na institusyon na kinikilala ng Departamento. Ang mga kredito na nakuha para sa degree ay dapat na para sa mga kurso na baccalaureate level.

ParaPro Assessment

Ang pagtatasa ng ParaPro ay isang opsyon sa pagtatasa na nakabatay sa computer para sa mga educational assistant (EA) at part-time na paraprofessional na tutor (PPT) upang matugunan ang pinakamababang kwalipikasyon para sa trabaho.

Mga Programa sa Paghahanda

Programs that prepare teachers – including counselor and librarian candidates – or other practicing professionals, must obtain an affiliation agreement with the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education in order to place candidates in our public schools under the direct supervision of a mentor. The Department maintains a list of programs with affiliation agreements.

Important: The affiliation agreement does not guarantee that candidates completing an educator program will be approved for a Hawaiʻi teacher, school counselor o paaralan librarian license. Questions regarding whether a program meets requirements for a Hawaiʻi license – including out-of-state, online and “alternative route” programs – should be directed to the Hawaiʻi Teacher Standards Board.

BECOMING A SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR 

The Hawai‘i Department of Education is committed to building strong paaralan leadership through high-quality training and certification programs. Whether you’re an aspiring vice principal, principal, or an experienced administrator from another state, our certification pathways help ensure that all paaralan leaders are equipped to guide students and staff toward success.

HICISL Vice Principal Certification Program 

This one-year residency internship provides hands-on leadership experience under the guidance of a mentor principal. Participants gain valuable skills in paaralan administration, and successful completion leads to an Initial Paaralan Administrator Certificate (ISAC). This certification allows individuals to apply for vice principal or equivalent positions within Hawaiʻi’s public schools.

HICISL Principal Certification Program

Designed for tenured Department vice principals, this one-year preparatory program helps aspiring principals develop the skills needed for paaralan leadership. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Professional Paaralan Administrator Certificate (PSAC), which qualifies them to apply for principal or equivalent positions.

Mga Pathway sa Sertipikasyon para sa Mga Lisensyadong Administrator sa labas ng Estado

Experienced paaralan administrators from other states may be eligible for certification based on their qualifications.

Track IV – Licensed Administrator na may Bise Principal na Karanasan

kung ikaw ay:

• Hold a valid K-12 paaralan administrator license from another U.S. state.
• Magkaroon ng master's degree sa Educational Administration o Educational Leadership mula sa isang akreditadong unibersidad.
• Have at least three years of experience as a licensed paaralan administrator.

You may qualify for the Initial Paaralan Administrator Certificate (ISAC), allowing you to apply for vice principal or equivalent positions.

Track V – Licensed Administrator na may Pangunahing Karanasan

kung ikaw ay:

• Hold a valid K-12 paaralan administrator license from another U.S. state
• Magkaroon ng master's degree sa Educational Administration o Educational Leadership mula sa isang akreditadong unibersidad
• Magkaroon ng hindi bababa sa limang taon ng karanasang pang-administratibo ng K-12, kabilang ang hindi bababa sa apat na taon bilang punong-guro.

You may qualify for the Professional Paaralan Administrator Certificate (PSAC), allowing you to apply for principal or equivalent positions.

Mga Miyembro at Asawa ng Serbisyo Militar – Portability ng Mga Lisensya

Sa ilalim ng Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA), ang aktibong-duty na mga tauhan ng militar at kanilang mga asawa ay maaaring magpatuloy sa paggamit ng kanilang mga propesyonal na lisensya kapag lilipat dahil sa mga utos ng militar. Upang maging kwalipikado, ang mga indibidwal ay dapat:

1. Lumipat sa labas ng hurisdiksyon ng awtoridad sa paglilisensya na nagbigay ng kanilang orihinal na lisensya o sertipiko dahil sa mga utos ng militar.
2. Magbigay ng kopya ng kanilang mga kautusang militar sa bagong awtoridad sa paglilisensya. 
3. Aktibong ginamit ang kanilang lisensya o sertipiko sa dalawang taon bago lumipat.
4. Maging nasa mabuting katayuan sa nag-isyu ng awtoridad sa paglilisensya.
5. Sumunod sa mga pamantayan ng pagsasanay, disiplina, at patuloy na mga kinakailangan sa edukasyon sa bagong hurisdiksyon.
