Donations of Goods for Homeless Keiki

Hawaiʻi’s public schools serve homeless students statewide. Thanks to donations of classroom supplies, the Department is usually able to provide students what’s needed for classwork—backpacks, notebooks, pens, etc. We often have a need for footwear, shoes and slippers. Please contact the Education for Homeless Children and Youth program at 808-348-0304 or 808-723-4192 with any questions. Needs can also be fulfilled directly through the Purposity website.

Give Through Partners

Hawaiʻi Community Foundation: A significant partner with the Department and an important source for scholarships to students and grants for nonprofits supporting school communities and families.

Public Schools of Hawaiʻi Foundation: An independent nonprofit corporation dedicated to strengthening the quality of public education. The foundation uses its Good Idea Grants to stimulate innovation and academic excellence in Hawaiʻi’s public schools. Mini grants are awarded to teachers and schools for innovative instructional ideas that will improve student learning. The foundation has also made travel grants to students and channeled major contributions to designated schools or projects meeting the criteria of the donor.

Hawaiʻi 3R’s: This nonprofit organization launched by the late Sen. Daniel K. Inouye assists with projects to improve school campuses.
