As the only state-wide educational system in the country, it is our kuleana to instill in our students a love of learning, cultivate cultural understanding, and inspire a deep sense of stewardship for the islands they will inherit. Our goal is to guide students to become responsible and and engaged citizens.
In partnership with the Department of Human Services and the Executive Office of Early Learning, work is also underway to expand access to public preschool and pre-kindergarten classrooms at existing schools for Hawaiʻi’s 3- and 4-year-olds.

Early Childhood Development & Prekindergarten
Ensuring every child gets off to the right start and parents are provided the support needed during these critical developmental years. Children who attend pre-K and other education programs have a proven advantage in school and life.
Kindergarten
Mandatory in the state of Hawaiʻi, kindergarten provides young students with positive experiences that are important in establishing the foundation for future school success and starts them on the road to becoming lifelong learners.
Elementary School
Tailored learning to support students begins shaping the educational experience.

Secondary
Middle/Intermediate: Grades 6-8
During these crucial developmental years, our students are growing academically, emotionally and socially. Middle school expands breadth of experiences by offering students expanded class choices in Career and Technical Education, visual arts, drama, dance, music, athletics and afterschool programs. College readiness efforts begin along with strengthening critical social skills.
High School
We envision all public school graduates being globally competitive and locally committed, and prepared for successful futures aligned to their passions and skills.
