Strategic Plan Update: May 6, 2016

One in a series of email updates on the Strategic Plan review and extension process.

60 focus groups and counting

MAHALO NUI LOA to the many students, educators, parents, and community members that have participated so far in focus groups and the online survey for the state’s DOE/BOE Strategic Plan for education. We have completed 60 focus groups on six islands, and hundreds have provided their input through the online survey.

By contributing your voice and opinion, you are helping to identify supports and strategies that will help us all come together to support our youth with their aspirations for the future. Please forward this survey link to others to encourage them to add their voice and ideas — we have the survey and focus groups occurring statewide through May 31: hiqualityed.tumblr.com

Strategic Plan outreach spotlighted

Education First released a guide this week, titled “What’s Your State’s North Star?” Their primer helps explain how states can make the most of the Every Student Succeeds Act by leading with their local vision for education. Hawaii’s update of its Strategic Plan was one of seven states spotlighted in its resource.
