Her experience within the Department spans over 30 years, previously serving as principal at Koloa Elementary, vice principal at Wilcox Elementary and Kapa&#8217;a High, student services coordinator at Koloa Elementary, and as a special education teacher at Koloa Elementary and Waipahu Elementary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis array of experiences will enable Ms. Maeda-Kobayashi to continue to guide the Kapa\u02bba Kaua&#8217;i-Waimea Complex Area and to be responsive to the needs of schools,\u201d Superintendent Keith Hayashi said in his <a href=\"https:\/\/boe.hawaii.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/20250619_GBM_CASKKW.pdf\">recommendation<\/a> to the Board. \u201c[She] has gained substantial departmental knowledge, enabling her to effectively address school needs and communicate across all levels of the tri-level system.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maeda-Kobayashi holds an educational certificate in elementary and special education as well as a bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration from the University of Hawai\u02bbi at M\u0101noa. She succeeds veteran educator Daniel Hamada, who will <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiipublicschools.org\/zh_tw\/2025-two-longtime-hidoe-leaders-to-retire-after-over-77-years-of-combined-service-to-hawaii-public-schools\/\">retire<\/a> at the end of June with a HIDOE career spanning 47 years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kasie Kaleohano<\/strong><strong>, appointed Hilo-Wai\u0101kea Complex Area Superintendent&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaleohano, who was approved by the Board at its April 10 General Business Meeting, has served as the deputy complex area superintendent of the Hilo-Wai\u0101kea<strong> <\/strong>Complex Area since January. Her experience within the Department spans over 20 years \u2014 all within the Hilo-Wai\u0101kea Complex Area \u2014 previously serving as a district educational specialist for the complex area, principal at Wai\u0101keawaena Elementary, vice principal at Kalaniana\u2018ole Elementary and Intermediate, and various teaching and support staff roles at Wai\u0101kea High.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Ms. Kaleohano\u2019s commitment to the Hilo-Wai\u0101kea Complex Area and improving our public education system is unquestionable,\u201d Superintendent Hayashi said in his <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/boe__meeting_archives\/2025-04-10_GBM_Appointment-of-Hilo-Waiakea-CAS.pdf\">recommendation<\/a> to the Board. \u201cAs Complex Area Superintendent, Ms. Kaleohano will provide executive leadership by upholding the values of high expectations, equity, and cultural understanding in all matters through a productive professional culture.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in secondary education\/Hawaiian language from the University of Hawai\u02bbi at M\u0101noa and a master\u02bbs degree in secondary education from National University.
