The Hawai\u2018i State Board of Education today approved the appointment of Jon Henry Lee as complex area superintendent overseeing schools in the Campbell-Kapolei Complex Area in West O\u2018ahu. His appointment is effective February 13, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee has served as interim complex area superintendent of the Campbell-Kapolei Complex Area since Dec. 2025. His experience within the Department spans nearly three decades, previously serving as principal at James Campbell High School, the state\u2019s largest high school; principal at \u2018Ilima Intermediate; assistant principal at Kapolei High School; and as a special education and elementary school teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under his leadership at James Campbell High from 2015 to 2025, the school achieved wall-to-wall model status as a career academy school, with five career academies and a freshman academy. He also led the expansion of career and technical education programs, increased Advanced Placement offerings, and strengthened partnerships with community organizations and families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA commitment to high expectations, collaborative practices, and a central focus on student success distinguishes Mr. Lee\u2019s leadership,\u201d Superintendent Keith Hayashi said in his recommendation<\/a> to the Board. \u201cHe is highly regarded for his robust leadership and dedication to students. … His commitment to the Campbell-Kapolei Complex Area, student achievement, college and career readiness, and the continued advancement of public education is clearly evident and strongly demonstrated through (his) accomplishments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As complex area superintendent, Lee will serve as the senior educational leader for the Campbell-Kapolei Complex Area, supporting and evaluating principals, overseeing academic and operational decision-making, and working closely with school communities to advance student achievement across schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in education and a master\u2019s degree in educational administration from the University of Hawai\u2018i at M\u0101noa.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
