Adults across Hawai\u02bbi seeking to earn a high school diploma, prepare for college, learn English or gain new career skills will benefit from a new statewide model for adult education beginning July 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hawai\u02bbi State Department of Education (HIDOE) today announced the launch of the Hawai\u02bbi State Community School for Adults (HSCSA), which brings together the former McKinley Community School for Adults and Waipahu Community School for Adults into a single statewide school serving learners through 10 campuses across Hawai\u02bbi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For adult learners, classes and services will continue to be offered at existing campuses with no interruption. The new structure is designed to provide more consistent programs and support statewide while expanding access to educational and workforce opportunities regardless of where students live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Adult education opens doors for individuals, strengthens families and helps build Hawai\u02bbi’s workforce,” Superintendent Keith Hayashi said. “By bringing our community schools for adults together under one statewide school, we’re creating a stronger foundation for learners to earn a diploma, develop new skills, prepare for careers and continue their education.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unified statewide model follows a comprehensive review of enrollment trends, program alignment and operational needs. The goal is to strengthen collaboration among faculty and staff, allowing the school to better respond to Hawai\u02bbi’s evolving workforce needs, expand high-demand career pathway programs and direct more resources toward instruction and student support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new structure also creates opportunities to strengthen partnerships with employers, higher education institutions and community organizations, helping connect adult learners to in-demand careers and lifelong learning opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
