Carol&nbsp;Fukunaga and Honolulu City Councilwoman Val Okimoto to recognize the honorees at an event at Island Insurance&#8217;s Honolulu offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023 principal-nominees, who each received a $1,000 prize, are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sharon Beck<\/strong>, Ka\u2018\u016b High &amp; P\u0101hala Elementary (Ka\u2018\u016b-Kea\u2018au-P\u0101hoa Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>U\u2018ilani Kaitoku<\/strong>, Hau\u2018ula Elementary (Castle-Kahuku\u00a0Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Suzie Lee<\/strong>, M\u0101\u2018ili Elementary (N\u0101n\u0101kuli-Wai\u2018anae Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nathan Maeda<\/strong>, Maunawili Elementary (Kailua-Kalaheo Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leila Maeda-Kobayashi<\/strong>, K\u014dloa Elementary (Kapa\u2018a-Kaua\u2018i-Waimea Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Amy Martinson<\/strong>, Highlands Intermediate (Pearl City-Waipahu Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Komarey Moss<\/strong>, Red Hill Elementary (\u2018Aiea-Moanalua-Radford Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jason Nakamoto<\/strong>, Leilehua High (Leilehua-Mililani-Waialua Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chad Okamoto<\/strong>, Pu\u2018u Kukui Elementary (Baldwin-Kekaulike-K\u016blanih\u0101ko\u2018i-Maui Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jacqueline Ornellas<\/strong>, Lincoln Elementary (Kaimuk\u012b-McKinley-Roosevelt Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Christopher Sanita<\/strong>, H\u0101na High and Elementary (H\u0101na-Lahainaluna-L\u0101na\u2018i-Moloka\u2018i Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wesley Shinkawa<\/strong>, Kapolei High (Campbell-Kapolei Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lisa Souza<\/strong>, Wai\u0101kea Intermediate (Hilo-Wai\u0101kea Complex Area)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kori Takaki<\/strong>, Kahakai Elementary (Honoka\u2018a-Kealakehe-Kohala-Konawaena)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jason Yoshimoto<\/strong>, Kamilo\u2018iki Elementary (Farrington-Kalani-Kaiser Complex Area)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A top winner will be named in April at the Public Schools of Hawai\u2018i Foundation annual dinner and receive $25,000 \u2013 a $10,000 personal cash award and $15,000 toward a school project of the principal\u2019s choice. Two semi-finalists will each receive a $2,000 cash award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the 17th year that we\u2019ve had this award and the level of candidates has been truly amazing.
