Current certification from a course that includes hands-on practice such as those provided in-person by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Certification from a course that is online only will not be acceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One (1) year of continuous work experience. The work experience must have demonstrated the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; follow oral and written instructions; prepare simple reports; and communicate effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tuberculosis clearance<\/a> issued within one (1) year prior to the initial application date, or at age sixteen (16) years or older.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Completion of the Department\u2019s fingerprinting and criminal history background check will be required prior to entry into the Substitute School Health Assistant (SHA) pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Substitute SHA will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Applications are valid for one year after the date of receipt by the School Health Section. Only complete application packets which include all of the above documents will be accepted. Documents to submit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are two ways to apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n If the application and associated documentation demonstrates fulfillment of the minimum requirements, the applicant will be interviewed and references will be checked. If a decision is made to hire, the applicant will be required to be cleared by the Department\u2019s fingerprinting and criminal history background check. Prior to entry into the Substitute SHA pool orientation must be completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Flexible work day schedule is possible. Substitute SHAs work approximately 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, except State holidays. Substitute SHAs are eligible to participate in the medical and prescription drug plans offered to part-time and temporary employees and the PTS Deferred Compensation Retirement Plan.
