It evaluates how effectively each state implements IDEA requirements and works to improve educational outcomes for students with disabilities. The SPP\/APR guides efforts to strengthen special education services and supports. By focusing on areas such as graduation rates, academic achievement, and access to inclusive classrooms, the SPP\/APR helps ensure that students with disabilities have the opportunities and resources they need to succeed and thrive. <br><br>If you have questions, please contact the Monitoring &amp; Compliance Branch at (808) 307-3600.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u200bIndividuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.ed.gov\/idea\/about-idea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The IDEA<\/a> requires each state to develop an SPP\/APR that evaluates the state\u2019s efforts to implement the requirements and purposes of the IDEA and describes how the state will improve its implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SPP\/APR includes 18 compliance and results indicators that measure student and family outcomes and other indicators that measure compliance with the requirements of the IDEA. In addition to meeting monthly with the Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) members, the Department hosts an annual engagement meeting where SEAC members, Department staff, and other educational partners come together to review the SPP\/APR indicators, examine the targets and baselines, assess progress over time, determine whether any changes are needed, and provide input on improvement strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SPP\/APR Partner Engagement Meeting&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department hosted an SPP\/APR Partner Engagement Meeting on Friday, December 5, 2025 in collaboration with SEAC to review Hawai\u02bbi\u2019s SPP\/APR Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2024 data and discuss performance targets and improvement activities related to the implementation and purposes of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Esta reuni\u00f3n representa un compromiso importante del SEAC, HIDOE y otras partes interesadas en la educaci\u00f3n especial para desempe\u00f1ar un papel activo en el sistema de rendici\u00f3n de cuentas de Haw\u00e1i en virtud de la Ley de Educaci\u00f3n para Individuos con Discapacidades (IDEA). La reuni\u00f3n se llevar\u00e1 a cabo de manera virtual de 9:00 a. m. a 12:00 p. m. e incluir\u00e1 grupos de discusi\u00f3n centrados en diez de los indicadores m\u00e1s impactantes que influyen en el \u00e9xito de nuestra poblaci\u00f3n de estudiantes de educaci\u00f3n especial.
